When the seeds came out one week ago, many people thought that this could be a very intriguing match up between Lewistown and Brown County.  The Indians are a team who love to go to the air with short passes for large gains, while the Hornets are a team who just grind it out on the ground.  Brown County would strike first in this contest with a 2 yd run and extra point from Alex Sheppard to go up 7-0.  Then with under a minute to go in the 1st Quarter Rick Logsdon broke open an outstanding 50 yd run to the end zone to give the Hornets a 14-0 lead at the half.  Sheppard would score two  more times in the second half and helped Brown County to a 28-7 victory of Lewistown.  One of the biggest sticking points in this game was the number of penalties committed by Brown County, 10 penalties for 80 yards.  If the Hornets want to advance into the later rounds, they are going to have to find a way to stop committing penalties.  Lewistown finished today with 162 yds on the ground and 98 through the air, while Brown County went for 269 on the ground and 47 through the air.  Gage Beekman led the Indians with 61 yards rushing while Matt McCoy had 58 yards receiving.  Rick Logsdon led the way for Brown County with 142 yards rushing and Alex Sheppard had one catch for 26 yards.  Logsdon also went over the 1000 yard mark for the season in today’s game to be only the second ever in the Tom Little era; Sheppard reached the feat in week 9.  Lewistown’s season comes to an end at 6-4 but will return a team next year full of juniors that will have a ton of varsity playing experience.  Brown County improves to 9-1 and advances to the 2nd round to take on Cumberland.  It will be a road game for the Hornet’s as the Cumberland Pirates defeated West Central, on the road, 12-0 in round 1.
