1A Brown County Girls Regional Championship: South Fulton vs. Hanava

Last night, South Fulton and Havana met up one more time for the Regional Championship contest.  This game was full of emotion and intensity from the players, coaches, and fans. Then you add in the atmosphere that comes with playing at Brown County High School and this was a true championship caliber ballgame.  Abby Kachanuk got the night started for Havana scoring their first 4 points and the Lady Ducks never once trailed in this ballgame.  South Fulton could never find a shooting rhythm throughout this entire game as they only shot 33% on the night while commuting 15 turnovers.  Havana ended the night shoot 49% and committed 21 turnovers en route to a 55-40 victory.  South Fulton was led in scoring by Carly Beebe with 17 points. Also Destini Boillnger put forward an amazing effort for the Lady Rebels by forcing many turnovers throughout the game and making those convert into points. Havana was led in scoring by Jill Friedrich with 17 points.  The Lady Ducks also shot 11-13 from the free throw line tonight, which helped them secure the championship win.  South Fulton finishes their great season with a record of 26-6, while Havana improves to 29-3 and advances to the Illini Central Sectional and will have a re-match against Illini Bluffs on Tuesday at 7:30pm.
