West Central and Brown County met up at The Nest on Friday night to open up their WIVC schedule. West Central came into tonight’s game riding a 5-0 record after a great showing in the New Berlin Tournament. Brown County came into the night with a 1-0 record and looking for a better showing than earlier in the week. The first quarter started out with both teams pushing the tempo and going back and forth with the lead as both teams were on fire from the three point line. By the time the second quarter rolled around though, Brown County was starting to find their rhythm and were able to sustain the lead of 33-26 at the half. In the third quarter Brown County’s fouling issues from the first half continued and sent West Central to the free throw line 10 times in the quarter. The fourth quarter was the same story as West Central spent a lot of time at the free throw line and shot a total of 65% from the line for the night. But the excellent free throw shooting by West Central could not bring the deficit any closer than 9 and Brown County was able to make their free throws at the end to hang on for a 67-58 win. Dylan Gutherie lead all scorers on the night with 22 points, as Brown County was unable to stop him from penetrating to the basket with out fouling him. Jacob Wilson also had 19 points on the night as he shot over 50% from the field on the night. West Central’s record falls to 5-1, 0-1 WIVC. Brown County advances their record to 2-0, 1-0 WIVC.
