Game Blog: #1 Brown County vs. #13 Calhoun; IHSA Class 1A Quarterfinals

Posted: November 15, 2010 in Broadcast Recap, Football

On Saturday, Brown County traveled to Calhoun to take on the Warriors in a Quarterfinal match up. It was a defensive battle for the entire 1st quarter as neither team was able to find the end zone.  But as we started the 2nd, Brown Co’s. Jacob Wilson was not going to be denied as he had one of the best 17yd runs you will see to put the Hornets on top by 7.  Calhoun responded on their next possession with a touchdown but then on the extra point, Ace Henricks was able to break through and block the attempt.  And as we went into halftime that score would stand with BC on top 7-6.  The second half was all Brown County as Ace Henricks was responsible for all of the scoring with TD runs of 8 and 11 yards, a extra point, a completed pass for a 2pt conversion, and he also completed a 20 yd field goal which brings us to the final score of 25-6.  Looking at the numbers for the Hornets leaves Dallas Phelps on top in rushing with 120yds.  Ace Henricks was right behind him though as he had 95 yds on the ground and also completed 2 passes for 20 yds.  Jacob Wilson ended the day with 72 yds rushing and Rick Logsdon had 53 yds on the ground for Brown County.  With today’s win Brown County will advance to the semi-final round for the first time in school history and for their efforts they will get to host the #2 seed Tuscola Warriors.  This will be only the second time the two schools have played as Tuscola def. BC in the second round last year, in Mt. Sterling, on their way to a 1A state championship.
